Preparing for the GRE

What is the GRE Exam?

The GRE, or Graduate Record Examination, is a standardized test used that helps to measure a person’s aptitude for abstract thinking in writing, mathematics, and vocabulary. The test is used by many graduate schools to assess an applicant’s ability to succeed in their programs.

How does our prep program work?

Each fall, the Student Success Center (SSC) offers a GRE Prep Program for PC students who are planning to apply for graduate study. The program, which is offered on three consecutive Saturdays each September, provides an opportunity to sharpen math and verbal skills. It also helps students develop more general test-taking strategies for the GRE. The schedule for this year’s in-person program can be found below.

What does the program cost, and how do I register?

This year, the cost of the program is $65.00. Students can register for the program by completing our online registration form and sending a check or money order to the following address: Providence College Student Success Center, Phillips Memorial Library — Room 250, Providence, Rhode Island, 02918. Please note that you will not be formally registered for the program until we have received your payment.
