Protege Peer Mentoring Program

Mission and Vision

Protege is a peer mentoring program through which upper-level students help first-year students make the transition to academic life at Providence College. The program provides mentees with a personal resource who can assist them in managing their classroom commitments as they embrace the many co- and extra-curricular opportunities that PC has to offer.

How does the program work?

Incoming, first-year students are invited to Protege during the summer months and assigned to a mentor for the fall semester. Whenever possible, mentors and mentees are paired on the basis of shared academic and personal interests. Throughout the fall semester, mentors and mentees meet on a weekly basis to address academic challenges and to connect mentees with campus support services. Periodic social events bring all mentors and mentees together, encouraging collaborative mentoring and a sense of community.
